Janet completed her PhD in Sociology with a certificate in Demography at Princeton University in 2021. Her research focuses on race/ethnicity, work and organizations, culture, and social psychology. More specifically, her work tackles issues related to racial and ethnic diversity — cultural contestation over what diversity means, what value is attributed to it, and how efforts to achieve it shape social stratification. Her current research examines how organizational diversity initiatives impact individuals’ future labor market outcomes and how evaluative practices produce and reproduce inequality. In other work, she has studied the aggregation and interpretation of population statistics on race and ethnicity. Her research uses a variety of quantitative methods and often draws on novel data sources and original data collection, including field and survey experiments.
