D.G. completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of California, San Diego in 2022. D.G.’s research examines growing anti-Asian racism in the United States and its domestic and foreign policy implications. In his research, D.G. develops new measures of anti-Asian racism and utilizes the tools to assess the racialization of American public opinion on China, elite rhetoric, as well as mass support for racialized public policies. His work has been published in Annual Review of Political Science and Political Science Quarterly. D.G. is currently working on a book that examines the racial politics of contemporary U.S.-China relations, with a focus on anti-Asian racism and its effects on increasingly hawkish political discourses and public opinion in both countries. He is also working on multiple projects on race and racism in international relations, Asian American politics, and survey and experimental methods.
