The Commonwealth Project at Harvard University is accepting applications from Harvard undergraduates interested in building a long-term collaborative arts initiative with artists from the Midwestern region of St. Louis selected for the #lnTheCity Visual Arts Fellowship.

The first of its kind at Harvard, #InTheCity Visual Arts Fellowship will select St. Louis-based fellows tasked with capturing different parts of the city in response to the question “What is St. Louis to you?” and pair them with the #lnTheCity Student Board, who will serve as on-campus ambassadors for the fellowship.

The #InTheCity Visual Arts Fellowship is a collaboration between: Tef Poe, artist, activist and former Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History Fellow; De Nichols, 2019-2020 Loeb Fellow at the Graduate School of Design and Principal in Design & Social Practice for Civic Creatives; Dr. Walter Johnson, Winthrop Professor of History and African and African American Studies and Director of the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History; Dr. Flavia Pérea, Director of the Mindich Program in Engaged Scholarship; and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Inequality in America Initiative. It is housed under the Commonwealth Project at the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History.

Over the course of an academic year, Board members will work together with collaborators and STL artist fellows to structure the fellowship's program, increase its profile, and share Commonwealth Project and Harvard resources, spaces, programs, and opportunities with artists.
